Allegany County’s Pill Drop Events take place during the U.S. Department of Justice Drug Enforcement Administration’s National Prescription Drug Take Back Day. The Allegany County Pill Drop aims to provide a safe, convenient, and responsible means of disposing of prescription drugs, while also educating the general public about the potential for abuse and medications.
Partners for Prevention in Allegany County in partnership with the Allegany County Sheriff’s Office, local police departments, pharmacists, coalition members, and Allegany Council on Alcoholism and Substance Abuse, provide opportunities for individuals to clean out their medicine cabinets and safely dispose of their unused, unwanted, or expired drugs.
These events take place twice a year in the Spring and Fall at different locations throughout Allegany County.
There are also six locations throughout the county that community members can drop off their medications anytime. These locations can be found here.
