Allegany County’s Solid Waste Department offers Sharps disposal at all of their transfer stations free of charge to all Allegany County residents. Allegany County is one of only two counties in all of New York State that offers this service. The proper way to dispose of sharps at the transfer stations is to put the used sharps into a sealable container and drop the whole container into the sharps drop box at the transfer station. If you do not know where the drop box is, ask a Solid Waste Department employee and they will direct you to the box.
DO NOT PUT SHARPS INTO PILL DROP BOXES!
