Needle/Sharps Disposal

Allegany County’s Solid Waste Department offers needle/sharps disposal at all of their transfer stations free of charge to all Allegany County residents. Allegany County is one of only two counties in all of New York State that offers this service. The proper way to dispose of needles/sharps at the transfer stations is to put the used needles/sharps into a sealable container and drop the whole container into the drop box at the transfer station. If you do not know where the drop box is, ask a Solid Waste Department employee and they will direct you to the box. The needle/sharps disposal program at the Allegany County’s transfer stations are for Residential use only!

DO NOT PUT NEEDLES or SHARPS INTO PILL DROP BOXES!
